Cattle ID workshops coming in 2016

The Canadian Cattle Identification Program is putting on traceability workshops in seven Alberta communities for cow-calf producers, backgrounders, and feedlot operators.

There will be presentations on the impact of age verification and how that impacts Canadian beef in international markets, discounts suffered by feedlots, determining age at packing plants, and the importance of premises ID. There will also be a refresher session on data entry of age verification and move-ins; where to get help and buy tags; and the latest research and developments in tags and retention.

Jan. 26 – Vermilion Regional Centre
Jan. 27 – Westlock Inn
Jan. 28 – Sheraton Red Deer
Feb. 9 – Hanna Legion
Feb. 10 – Heritage Inn, Brooks
Feb. 11 – Coast Hotel Lethbridge
March 1 – Pomeroy Hotel, Grande Prairie

Workshops run from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. with lunch included. Pre-registration is required; to register call 1-877-909-2333.
