First aid course now partly online

St. John Ambulance Alberta Council is now offering a “blended online” course for Standard First Aid with CPR.

Once students have completed (at their own pace) the online portion of the course, they then register for a one-day, in-class component to complete the demonstrated competency and validation process.

The in-class portion, offered at seven provincial Training & Community Service Centres, consists of a written exam and practical skill assessments led by a certified instructor. In addition to Calgary and Edmonton, there are centres in Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray.

Both the CPR A and CPR C courses (including Automated External Defibrillator Certification) are offered. The online program is approved by Alberta OHS for workplace First Aid certification. For more information, go to the St. John Ambulance website.
