New beef website answers consumer questions

Canada Beef has created a new website — raisingcdnbeef.ca — aimed at answering “the most common questions about Canadian beef production.”

The website has five sections and each has a series of slides accompanied by a brief text. The various sections contain numerous facts (such as typical weaning weights, days in a feedlot, testing protocols for antibiotic residues, and the nutritional profile of beef). But the website addresses topics such as why grazing pastures are good for the environment. That topic has its own section as does the topic of antibiotics and hormones.

The website is a digital version of the booklet Where Does Canadian Beef Come From? with additional information on nutrition, the economy and environmental impacts.
