New grassy weed alternative

STAFF

Farmers of North America (FNA) has teamed up with one of its crop protection suppliers to launch MPower Aurora, a generic grassy weed herbicide that contains the active ingredient clodinafoppropargyl. The same active is found in the brand Horizon NG.

FNA says the product is available under its MPower brand, which is a program only available to FNA members. FNA is a farmer-member based business that seeks out lower-priced inputs on behalf of its members.

CWB early payment options reduced for some grades of wheat

The Canadian Wheat Board says its 80 and 90 per cent Early Payment Option (EPO) values have been terminated for the 2009-10 crop year on several wheat classes “because of reduced effectiveness as a cash flow tool, given current market conditions.” The 80 per cent EPO for Canada Western Extra Strong (CWES), Canada Western Soft White Spring and Canada Western Feed is terminated, as is the 90 per cent EPO for CWES, Canada Western Red Spring, Canada Western Hard White Spring and Canada Western Red Winter. The CWB says producers may want to consider signing a 100 per cent EPO if additional cash flow is required. For more information, visit www.cwb.ca or call 1-800-275-4292.
