Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Dollar, stock markets heading downward

WINNIPEG, Jan. 11 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar is down Friday morning along with the major North American stock markets.

At 8:50 CST Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7535 or C$1.3269, which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7556 or C$1.3234.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index was down 41.69 points Friday morning at 14,861.45.

The Dow Jones dropped 119.35 points to 23,882.57, the S&P 500 slipped 11.92 points to 2,584.72 and the NASDAQ was down 48.83 points to 6,937.23.

Oil prices are down by 81 cents Friday morning. West Texas Intermediate crude is at US$51.78 per barrel after closing Thursday at US$52.59.

Gold is up by US$1.30 Friday morning to US$1,288.70 per ounce.
