Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, April 15 (MarketsFarm) The Canadian dollar was posting small gains relative to its United States counterpart Monday morning.
At 8:58 CDT Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7508 or C$1.3319 which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7502 or C$1.3329.
Canadian home sales increased by 0.9 per cent on a month-on-month basis in March, according to a report from the Canadian Real Estate Association. Activity remained near its lowest levels in six years, with actual sales were down by 4.6 per cent from the same time a year ago.
Crude oil was slightly softer to start the week, providing little direction for the energy-linked Canadian currency.
The Bank of Canada’s Business Outlook Survey will be released later in the day.
The TSX was weaker Monday morning, down 30.47 points at 8:58 CDT to sit at 16,450.06.
