CCA names new chief for CanFax

Rob Leslie, a former rancher and livestock drug sales rep, has been named the new manager of CanFax, the market analysis wing of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association.

Leslie starts March 3, the CCA said in a release Tuesday. His role will include that of the division’s senior market analyst, as well as advocacy work, representing the association to the western U.S.

Leslie “knows and understands the beef industry and is also a proven leader and motivator, all of which will benefit both CanFax and the industry,” CCA president Hugh Lynch-Staunton said in the association’s release.

Leslie comes to CanFax from a sales management position with Wyeth Animal Health, and previously worked in a similar role for Pfizer Animal Health. He also previously ran a cow/calf and stocker/feeder operation and was cattle manager for Western Feedlots, the CCA said.

Leslie replaces Anne Dunford, who left the division in late 2006 to work for Gateway Livestock of Taber, Alta. He also replaces market analyst Bart Holowath, who recently left the division.
