Nominations are open for Alberta Beef Producers (ABP) delegate positions. Elections will be held at over 30 fall producer meetings hosted throughout the province in late October and early November.
“We’d like to encourage producers to put their names forward to help provide leadership for our industry,” said Rick Burton, ABP chairman. “I think it’s very important that producers actively work to address the challenges before the industry.”
Nominations are open to any Alberta resident who has during 2008 or 2009, sold cattle in his or her name and has paid a checkoff fee to ABP, or to another person on behalf of ABP.
An “eligible producer” that is a corporation may appoint a representative to act on its behalf.
An “eligible producer” who is an individual cannot appoint a representative.
The “eligible producer” must be a producer in the zone or sub-zone in which they or their representative are standing for election
All nominations must be received, faxed or postmarked before midnight, August 31st. Nomination forms are available from the ABP office at (403) 275-4400, or from the ABP website www.albertabeef.org.
Alberta Beef Producers represents the collective interests of the more than 30,000 beef cattle producers who are stewards of the industry in this province.
