Reading Time: < 1 minute

After a 10-year battle with cancer, famed livestock photographer Walt Browarny passed away at the age of 75 in Calgary. His career spanned more than 40 years and he photographed livestock in most of the major cattle-producing countries in the world.

He was there at the beginning of the exotic cattle boom and got an early boost with Charolais cattle sales photography. He later became the official photographer of the Calgary Stampede s livestock show and the Denver National Livestock Show. Walt also did commercial photography for other clients such as Safeway and Imperial Oil. The family photography business is being carried on by son Allan and daughter Shannon.

Besides his loving wife Marie, Walt is survived by his children, daughter Shannon Browarny; son Allan Browarny and daughter-in-law Roxana; and two grandchildren, Corbin and Sophia.
