Jim Haggins will be assuming the interim manager position of the Alberta Farm Animal Care (AFAC) Association, effective May 4, succeeding Susan Church.
“Jim brings to AFAC a wealth of experience, knowledge and contacts, having worked in Alberta’s poultry and pork industry for several years. He has maintained an active interest in AFAC since its inception and has a strong understanding of its priorities and programs, AFAC chairman, Doug Sawyer said in a release.
Haggins was raised on a mixed farm in SW Ontario and spent several years in the livestock feed business and 20 years in the poultry business, commercial egg production, hatching egg production, broiler production and owned and operated a hatchery for nine years. Since 1996 he has been involved in the pork industry working with Pig Improvement Canada, Sunterra Farms, Cotswold Swine Genetics and PIC Canada.
