Alberta Milk Producers group awarded Bruce Beattie the 2010 Dairy Industry Achievement Award (DIAA) at the Dairy Conference and Alberta Milk Annual General Meeting last November in Calgary.
Beattie currently farms near Sundre and is a deputy reeve for Division 4 in Mountain View County.
The DIAA celebrates individuals or organizations who have distinguished themselves through their substantial contributions to the leadership and development of Alberta’s dairy industry.
“The DIAA is the dairy industry’s most respected award and I’m pleased to see it given to such a worthy recipient,” says Hennie Bos, chairman of Alberta Milk. “Bruce has played an integral role in the development of the prosperous dairy industry we see today.”
Beattie has a long-standing dedication to the dairy industry stemming from his work as a board member of the Red Deer Milk Producers, and his involvement as a member of provincial board. He contributed much of his time towards research and dairy policy, as well as held a fundamental role in the development of the Western Milk Pool.
The Dairy Industry Achievement Award is open to producers, processors, academics and members of government agencies or industries affiliated with dairying in Alberta.
