The Alberta Wheat Commission has launched a new online platform that it says makes applying for a cash advance simpler and easier.

“We pinpointed areas that could be time consuming for applicants and came up with solutions that will speed up the application process,” said Syeda Khurram, Alberta Wheat’s chief financial officer and COO of FarmCash.

The website at will now accept e-signatures and can collect priority agreements on behalf of applicants.

The federal government recently increased the amount available under its Advance Payment Program to $1 million with $500,000 interest free on canola.

However, the former limits ($400,000 with $100,000 interest free) are still in place “while implementation details are sorted out,” Alberta Wheat said.
