China s feed industry is expected to consume 15 million to 20 million tonnes of wheat in 2011-12 if corn prices remain high, a Canadian Wheat Board official based in Beijing said. We see a lot of switching from corn to wheat in China, Haiguang Shi, a vice-president of the Canadian Wheat Board, told Reuters at a grains conference in Singapore. Wheat prices are 15 per cent below corn, so that s why a lot of feed mills are shifting to feed wheat. Asked about the quantity of wheat, Shi said: It is 15 million to 20 million tonnes, if corn prices continue to remain high. The industry thinks so, and I also have the same view. Reuters
