to promote modern farming practices

Syngenta will donate $1 to Ag in the Classroom groups across the Prairies for every Twitter follower picked up by its #FollowtheSeed campaign.

The tweets will be coming from Cam Canola (@CamCanola) or Sam Soybean (@SamSoybean) as they progress through the growing season to Oct. 31.

The donations to Ag in the Classroom are capped at $10,000.

To help inform followers about some of the many dimensions of crop production, Cam and Sam will tweet about how weather conditions and pest pressure impact their growth and development. Followers will also learn how modern agricultural practices help crops reach their full yield potential, Syngenta officials say in a release.

“Modern farming is more complex than ever,” said Richard Marsh, technical development lead with Syngenta Canada. “It is our hope that this campaign contributes to the conversation about the types of decisions a farmer must make over the course of the growing season to produce healthy and profitable canola and soybean crops.”
