MANA announces new insecticide

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Makhteshim Agan of North America (MANA) has announced registration of Silencer insecticide for control of a wide spectrum of insects in cereal, oilseed, pulse, fruit and vegetable crops.

MANA says Silencer contains the same active ingredient as Matador. Insects on the Silencer label include grasshoppers, diamondback moth larvae, bertha armyworms, lygus bugs, soybean aphids, Colorado potato beetles, European corn borers, and flea beetles, among others.

Silencer is in the pyrethroid family, and provides control at low application rates. It is tank-mixable with Horizon or Achieve herbicides, or Tilt propiconazole fungicide. MANA says more tank-mix options will be added as part of its research and development program.

Canadian commercial business manager Dale Kushner said in a release that “Silencer will be available through regular retail channels at a fair price, and without any of the complex bundled pricing packages that some other manufacturers use.”
