CFA awards in honour of 75th anniversary

In honour of its 75th anniversary, The Canadian Federation of Agriculture is holding a photo contest with the theme of “The face of farming,” and is accepting nominations for three awards.

Photos may depict farming or portraits of farmers, including landscape photos, portraits of children, and much more. Photos will be judged based on their technical excellence, originality, and artistic creativity, while still reflecting the theme.

The contest is open to all Canadian residents, age 15 or older as of the day of submission.

Each photographer may submit up to three photographs. A completed application form must be included.

Nominations are also being accepted for members of CFA’s 22 organizations to be selected for three awards to be presented at its 75th anniversary banquet in October. Each winner will be given a $500 gift card and one night’s accommodation in Ottawa.

The three categories are Environmental Stewardship, Agricultural Awareness and Education and Youth Leadership.

OYF video showcased at stampede

Bayer CropScience used the large video board at the Calgary Stampede this year to showcase a commercial spot it has developed for the Outstanding Young Farmers (OYF) program, an annual award program to recognize the most progressive, inventive and talented young farmers across Canada.

“Rather than run a corporate message at this year’s Calgary Stampede, we wanted to give Outstanding Young Farmers the recognition they deserve,”Derrick Rozdeba, manager integrated communications with Bayer Crop- Science, said in a release

The 30-second commercial titled “Getting the recognition that they deserve” ran daily during the stampede rodeo. It can be viewed at:
