The CWB has sent a revised recommendation to the federal government for increases to the 2010-11 initial payments for wheat, durum and barley. Amounts will be announced when the approvals process is completed later this fall.

Farmers should be aware that Oct. 31, 2010, is the deadline to sign up for several delivery contract programs, including Series A, Wheat and Churchill Storage Programs, and all of the Identity Preserved Contract Programs. For more details, go to www.cwb.ca/delivery.

The 2010-11 Series A sign-up deadline for Canada Western Red Winter (CWRW) has been extended from Sept. 30 to Oct. 18, 2010.

A new contest is calling on Canadians to submit fun photos of themselves and their favourite pasta to celebrate World Pasta Day on Oct. 25. The contest recognizes Prairie “spaghetti farmers,” who grow the durum wheat for the world’s best pasta. Full contest information is available at prairiewheat.ca.
