Rebate programs are available to producers who invest in energy-efficient technology.
In Canada, the broadly available program is from Natural Resources Canada, which offers a substantial rebate on the project costs of installing solar thermal systems. A range of provincial programs are also available, including a new Alberta program anticipated to come on stream in 2010.
The rebate offered by Natural Resources Canada program, called the ecoENERGY incentive, is calculated on a case-by-case basis, with a maximum incentive of $80,000 per solar air installation and $400,000 per solar water installation. The corporate maximum incentive for multiple installations is $2 million. Information is available at www.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca.
