Recent Rain Boosts Australia Wheat Crop – for Sep. 13, 2010

Wheat crops across eastern Australia were boosted by more rain over the weekend ending Sept. 6, keeping the 2010-11 harvest on course to be the best in a decade. Rainfall of more than 100 mm was recorded over much of southern and eastern Australia, the regions that produce nearly half the country’s wheat. However an analyst said the harvest in the west could fall to around six million tonnes from 8.2 million in 2009-10 unless rain falls in the state’s parched central wheat belt within a couple of weeks.
