Haying permits are free for producers cutting hay

Roadside haying deadlines extended
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The deadline for cutting hay from provincial highway rights-of-way has been extended from July 15 to either Aug. 15 or Sept. 15, depending on which part of the province you live in.

Haying permits are free for producers cutting hay for personal use and are available at local Alberta Transportation offices. Permits are required so the department can monitor and co-ordinate haying with other activities, such as road construction.

All bales and equipment must be stored as far from the highway as possible and removed by the deadline. Due to the potential hazards, insurance may also be required.
