The Weather Network “is open to learning” about the beef sector’s positive environmental impact following its controversial call for Canadians to eat less beef, says the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association.

The CCA met with Weather Network officials after the forecaster posted a video on its website saying cattle “require about 20 times more land and they make more than 20 times more greenhouse gas than growing certain plants do.”

That prompted many ranchers to delete their Weather Network app as well as a tongue-in-cheek tweet from Alberta Pork that said its “in-house meteorologist just looked out the window and has determined that eating #meat has nothing to do with today’s forecast.”
