EU RAPESEED CROP SEEN LOWER – for Aug. 30, 2010

The European Union’s 2010/11 rapeseed crop is likely to fall to 19.98 million tonnes from 21.68 million tonnes in 2009/10, Hamburg-based oilseeds analysts Oil World forecast April 24. “Harvesting is largely complete and yields have turned out slightly better than expected but sizably below last year’s exceptionally high level,” Oil World said. Rapeseed had suffered from an early-summer heat wave. A sharp decline in EU rapeseed crushings cannot be prevented in the 2010/11 season because of the lower crop, small opening stocks and poor rapeseed crops in some key exporting countries, it said.
