Snow Brings Relief

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Snow over the weekend of Jan. 8-9 protected some of the U.S. Hard Red Winter wheat crop from low temperatures early last week, a forecaster said. “It will afford some protection. If this crop was wintering without any stress this would be a non-event,” Mike Palmerino, forecaster with Telvent DTN weather service, said last Monday. “But the fact the crop is stressed by dryness and not well established, this cold weather will have a little more impact than it normally would,” he said.
