Canadian Financial Close: TSX sinks amid uncertainty over crude

WINNIPEG, February 10 – The Canadian dollar finished lower against its US counterpart Wednesday amid losses in crude oil and gold bullion.

The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7177 or US$1 = C$1.3933.

Speculation that the recent decline in US crude inventories could be fleeing weighed down the market.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index fell 96.93 points, or 0.79%, to 12,185.72.

Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:
AGT Food and Ingredients—–up $ 0.36 at $ 34.43
Agrium Incorporated———-dn $ 1.89 at $114.42
Buhler Industries————– $ 0.00 at $ 5.02
Maple Leaf Foods————-up $ 0.66 at $ 23.00
Potash Corp. of Sask———dn $ 0.70 at $ 21.29
