Winnipeg, December 30 – The Canadian dollar was stronger compared to its US counterpart Friday morning, as the US dollar continued to show weakness against the basket of G-10 currencies.

At 8:59 CST Friday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7439 or C$1.3539 which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7403 or C$1.3508.

At 8:59 CST Friday morning, the TSX was down 7.52 points, or 0.05%, at 15,414.60.

Losses in crude oil undermined the market.

However, advances in gold, copper and silver bolstered mining stocks.
