Three Alberta communities have received a total of $100,000 in grants from the Rural Communities Foundation.
The Onoway and District Historical Guild ($50,000), the Delia School Enhancement Society ($39,000), and the Paradise Valley & District Museum Society ($11,000) were selected from more than 200 applications received by the foundation, which was created by UFA.
“We were very pleased with the number of communities that submitted applications during July and August this year,” said foundation board chair Harvey Hagman. “From over 200 submissions, the RCF board was able to identify those communities that best fit our mandate.”

A southeastern Alberta collaboration with new programming is looking to address the lack of drivers in the agricultural industry.
The foundation’s mandate is to improve the sustainability of farmers and ranchers in Alberta by improving access to funding for educational, recreational and cultural facilities and programs in those communities.
The Onoway and District Historical Guild’s Heritage Village will use its grant to build a secure machine shed to house and expand its historical farm equipment collection. The Delia School Enhancement Society Green Spaces project will allow community members to come together to plant, grow and harvest in a free 3,500-square-foot garden space along with an outdoor learning and meeting space area. The Paradise Valley & District Museum Society’s ‘Climb Thru Time Museum’ will see some of its buildings restored to historical standards.
