Ontario’s provincial crop insurance and ag program delivery agency has spotted a few southern areas’ growers some extra time to plant soybeans.
Agricorp said Saturday it has extended the planting deadline for soybeans to June 30 from June 20 for the Niagara Region, Haldimand County and Tuscarora Township.
To maintain their crop insurance coverage, producers must report all acres by June 30, the agency said.
Agricorp noted in a separate release Wednesday that its call centre is “currently experiencing higher-than-normal call volumes, especially between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.”
In response, Agricorp said, “all available customer service staff have been assigned to answer calls.”
That said, Ontario producers were also reminded to use Agricorp’s online acreage reporting tool where possible and were encouraged to phone, if need be, outside the peak calling period to report any crop damage.
