- A strike by French sanitation workers hit its ninth day Tuesday, with garbage piling up on Paris streets and other cities in the country. The workers are protesting a bill that would raise the French retirement age by two years, from 62 to 64, with one striking worker commenting that if President Emmanuel Macron were to withdraw his plan to increase the French retirement age “Paris will be clean in three days.”

- Tear gas was fired outside of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s residence as his supporters gathered nearby ahead of his possible arrest. Police intended to serve Khan with two arrest warrants over his involvement in alleged corruption and terrorism cases. The former leader was ousted in April 2022 after losing a non-confidence vote in parliament and has been calling for a general election ever since claiming the charges are politically motivated.
- Canadian manufacturing sales rose by 4.1 per cent in January, hitting C$73.9 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada. Increases were reported in 16 of 21 industries, with the largest gains in the motor vehicle (13.4 per cent) and petroleum and coal product (10.1 per cent) sectors.
