- Federal byelections held in four ridings kept to the status quo, with two Liberals and two Conservatives headed to Parliament Hill. The governing Liberals held onto their two seats while the opposition Conservatives kept their two generally safe-haven seats as well. Peoples Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier had hoped to secure a seat for himself in the southern Manitoba riding of Portage-Lisgar but came up short to Conservative Branden Leslie.
