Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm — The Canadian dollar was holding relatively steady Thursday morning amid ongoing tariff uncertainty.
At 8:52 a.m. CDT the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.6951 or US$1=C$1.4386 which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.6949 or US$1=C$1.4391.
The total value of building permits issued in Canada dipped by 3.2 per cent in January to C$12.8 billion, reported Statistics Canada. The largest losses were in Ontario.
Crude oil was weaker in early trade, with West Texas Intermediate crude oil down by 0.92 per cent at US$67.06 per barrel.
The TSX was down by 25.97 points at 8:52 CDT to trade at 24,397.37.
