U.S. livestock: Lean hogs up, cattle edge down

Chicago cattle futures closed slightly down on Friday while lean hogs continued to gain.

Most active August live cattle contracts closed at 209.350 cents a pound, down 0.725 cents. June live cattle settled at 215.475 cents, down 0.050 cents.

Most active August feeder cattle futures closed at 298.825 cents per pound, a loss of 1.100 cents. September feeders settled at 297.700 cents a pound, down 1.150 cents.

Choice boxed beef gained $0.25 to end the day at $366.34 per cwt. Select boxed beef closed at $356.65 per cwt, up $3.01.

Most active July lean hog futures closed at 104.925 cents a pound, up 1.950 cents. August lean hogs settled at 105.025 cents.

Pork carcass cutout value settled at $107.22 per cwt, the USDA reported.
