  • French Prime Minister François Bayrou submitted his resignation after losing a confidence vote in the country’s parliament. Bayrou is the third head of government in France to be ousted in the past 14 months, leaving President Emmanuel Macron once again looking for a successor from the divided parliament.

 

  • Nepal’s Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli also resigned a day after deadly protests over alleged government corruption killed 19 people. Defying a curfew, protesters broke into the parliament building and set it on fire, says an official, Earlier, they stormed the office of the country’s largest party, Nepali Congress, and residences of several prominent politicians, reported Al Jazeera.

  • The United Nations General Assembly will begin a new session in New York this week, with Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza and Palestinian statehood expected to be main topics of discussion.

 

  • Canadian ending stocks of wheat, canola and oats were tighter as of July 31 compared to a year earlier, according to updated data from Statistics Canada. Barley, pea and lentil supplies were up on the year.
