• World leaders continue to meet in New York for the annual United Nations General Assembly. On the agenda Tuesday is a speech from United States President Donald Trump.
• Super Typhoon Ragasa was bearing down on Hong Kong and southern China, with flights cancelled across the region and hundreds of thousands of people already evacuated.
• U.S. comedian Jimmy Kimmel will return to his late-night talk show on Disney-owned ABC on Tuesday. Disney said it suspended the show last week because it “felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive”. The suspension had been welcomed by Trump, sparking a nationwide debate over free speech.
• The U.S. soybean harvest was nine per cent complete as of this past Sunday, with corn at 11 per cent done, reported the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Quality ratings slipped on the two crops, with soybeans down two points at 61 per cent good to excellent and corn down one at 66 per cent good to excellent.
