  • Saudi Arabia launched air strikes on the Yemeni port of Mukalla on Tuesday, as it continued to back the Presidential Leadership Council. However, the action has now created a split with the United Arab Emirates, after the PLC accused the UAE of supporting the separatist Southern Transitional Council. Since then, the UAE announced it will withdraw its forces from Yemen.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied on Tuesday that Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residences. On Monday, Russia accused Ukraine of trying to kill Putin by sending 91 drones to attack his Novgorod estate. • The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported two private sales of 2025/26 soybeans. One was for 136,000 tonnes to China and the other was for 231,000 tonnes to unknown destinations. China remains well behind Trump administration projections of buying 12 million tonnes of U.S. soybeans by the end of February.

The Canadian Grain Commission reported on Monday that producer deliveries of canola for the week ended Dec. 21 were 313,800 tonnes. That brought the year-to-date total to 7.28 million tonnes, down from 8.18 million a year ago. Cumulative canola exports reached 2.54 million tonnes, compared to 4.39 million this time last year and domestic use reached 4.61 million tonnes, virtually on par with last year.
