The Alberta Prion Research Institute is recognizing young researchers in prion science by offering a one-time $25,000 prize to be awarded in 2010. The International Young Researcher Prize marks five years since the Prion Institute was created to address issues to do with prion and neurological protein misfolding diseases such as BSE.

More than 100 students and post-doctoral researchers have been funded with projects worth more than $30 million in the last five years.
