Russia’s police have uncovered a ring that smuggled into the country 10 billion rubles ($350 million) worth of meat from Brazil, Argentina and other markets between 2005-10, the Interior Ministry said. The ministry said that the group had used false documents to import the meat, which was put into refrigerators in Moscow and around the city and later sold to consumers. Russia imported 1.3 million tonnes of red meat worth $4.1 billion in 2010.
