Alberta producers who have paid checkoffs through the provincial wheat, barley, pulse and canola commissions are eligible for a scientific research tax credit.
In the case of wheat, nine per cent of checkoffs are eligible for a tax credit, which is based on the amount invested in R&D that meets the criteria laid out by the Canada Revenue Agency. AWC’s research investments focus on genetic and agronomic improvements aimed at improving the long-term profitability of Alberta’s wheat producers.
