This year’s Farmfair International features several new attractions:
Canadian Trick Riding Competition (Nov. 11, 4:30 p.m., Hall D): Held in conjunction with the Canadian Trick Riders Association, this event will feature participation from preteens, teens and adults.
“It will be a very exciting, fast-paced competition,” said Suzanne Bielert, event manager with Northlands.
Small Ruminant Day (Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Meeting Room 108): An opportunity for cow-calf, ewe flock and other species producers. Topics include nutrition for sheep and goats, shepherding 101, making small flocks count and dealing with your feed mill.

Jackpot steer and heifer show (Nov. 13, 2:30 p.m., Hall B): This show features percentage and calendar calves with a payout of 50 per cent for the champion and 35 per cent for the reserve champion.
Northlands Family Day (Nov. 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., gallery area of the EXPO Centre): Activities includes hayrides, face painting, colouring stations, and a reading corner where volunteers will read agricultural-themed books to kids.
Northlands Food Lab (three times daily in the gallery area): A live cooking demo in which 15 registrants get to learn some cooking skills free of charge.
“Two of the sessions will be focused on cheese and the last one of the day will be on how to make the best burger,” said Bielert. “Although it’s limited to 15 participants, there is standing room where the general public can watch.”
