PULSES: French pea exports on the increase

Winnipeg, Nov 10. – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Tuesday morning, November 10.

– The French agricultural group, Terres Univia, says exports of field peas from France increased by 2% in September, compared to the month previous. A total of 38,125 metric tonnes were shipped in September which compares to 37,285 the month before.

– Pulse Australia has contacted the Indian government about its recent attempts at placing limits on the amount of pulse crops it accepts from other countries. While the limit was only up for a short time, Pulse Australia says it wants Australia exempted from any similar attempts in the future.

– State governments in India have begun auctioning off pulses seized from dealers suspected of hoarding supplies.

– Despite recent hailstorms, the winter chickpea crop in southern Australia is in good condition, according to reports out of the country.
