Corn supplies in the country, as of May 1, came in at 6.5 million tonnes, which compares with 4.2 million at the same point the previous year, reported UkrAgroConsult. Barley stocks, at 1.0 million tonnes, compare with 850,000 in 2016.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were higher on Thursday, as about a third of the US corn crop was rated fair-to-poor in the first USDA condition ratings of the growing season. Ideas that some intended acres will end up going into soybeans instead also provided support.
