Winnipeg, May 2 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Monday, May 2.
– Canada exported 30,400 tonnes of peas and only 200 tonnes of lentils during the week ended April 24, according to updated data from the Canadian Grain Commission.
– India’s CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) is recommending that the country’s government impose stock limits on pulse importers, and allow only domestic processors to bring in pulses, as a solution to curb high prices. The group sent a letter to the government with its recommendations.

– Green pea prices in the C$9.00 to C$9.85 per bushel range are being reported in Western Canada. Meanwhile, top end yellow peas are going for as much as C$12.50 per bushel in some locations. Red lentil bids of 52 cents per pound now being reported in some locations. Meanwhile, number two large green lentils are hitting prices as high as 75 cents and number ones have topped 80 cents at some locations.
– Chickpea prices in Western Canada also remain strong, with large caliber Kabulis’s trading as high as 56 cents per pound.
