Winnipeg, June 30 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, June 30.
– Approaching 80 million tonnes globally, world pulse output will set a new record high this year, according to Saskatchewan Pulse Growers market report.
– Lentil crops planted in the US almost doubled, with 930,000 acres planted this year, according to the USDA acreage report. This compares to 2015 where only 493,000 acres of lentils were planted.
– There were 1.7 million acres of dry edible beans planted in the US this year, down 4 per cent from last year, according to the USDA acreage report.
– Delayed monsoon, high surface temperatures and low reservoir levels in India are less than favourable for the Karif crop, including pulses, according to the USDA Global Agricultural Information Network report.
– Navy (white) beans in Western Canada dropped 2 cents from Wednesday, falling to 31 Canadian cents per pound, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
