Winnipeg, Sept. 15 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, September 15.
– Monsoon rains in India did not live up to earlier expectations, as La Nina weather patterns failed to materialize, said weather officials in the country who estimated September rainfall at about 15 per cent below average. After two straight years of drought, farmers in the country had been hoping for a better monsoon to help boost crop production.
– Edible bean harvest operations are moving forward across the growing regions of North America, with yields generally exceeding expectations but still coming in below the five-year average, according to a report from Thompsons Limited.
– Number 2 Laird lentils are currently topping out at about 46 cents per pound in Western Canada, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire data. Red lentils are bid at up to 29 cents per pound.
– Green pea prices range from C$6.80 to as high as C$7.75 per bushel in Western Canada. Yellow peas range from C$6.00 to C$7.17 per bushel.
