Winnipeg, Sept. 16 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, September 15.
– Wet weather in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia, is leading to quality and yield concerns for the chickpea crops, according to reports out of the country. Acres planted to the pulse crop were reportedly record large this year, due to the strong demand from India.
– India’s own monsoon rains may not live up to earlier expectations in some areas, but planted area to pulses was up on the year and conditions and the Indian Ministry of Agriculture is forecasting a significant increase in production.

– Canada exported 224,400 tonnes of peas during the week ended September 11, according to the latest Canadian Grain Commission data.
– Number 2 Laird lentils are currently topping out at about 46 cents per pound in Western Canada, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire data. Red lentils are bid at up to 29 cents per pound.
– Green pea prices range from C$6.80 to as high as C$7.75 per bushel in Western Canada. Yellow peas range from C$6.00 to C$7.19 per bushel.
