Winnipeg, September 30 – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Friday, September 30.
– Brazil has reportedly asked India to send it seed samples as the two countries mull over ways to increase pulse exports to the Asian country. India already buys brown-eyed beans from Brazil however it wants to increase imports of other commodities including lentils and chickpeas. Brazil has expressed interest in trying to grow the varieties India wants.
– Heavy rains in Australia are sparking fresh outbreaks of disease among chickpeas, according to a report in The Land.
– According to a report in World Grain, the Black Sea region will likely boost pea production in the coming year.
– Green peas are currently attracting prices of C$6.80 to C$7.50 per bushel at elevators across Western Canada, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. The same peas are going for C$6.93 to C$7.85 per bushel in North Dakota and C$7.93 per bushel in Washington/Idaho.
