Pulses: Some Australian chickpea crop development behind average

Winnipeg, October 26 – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on October 26.

– Chickpea crop progress in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia is three to six weeks behind average, according to reports on Wednesday. Crop development has been hindered by wet, cold weather.

– India’s pulse importers are trying to renegotiate contracts, according to reports out of the region, as prices for lentils and yellow peas have recently moved lower with high global production.

– Western Canadian spot prices for yellow peas range from C$6.00 to C$7.50 per bushel, Prairie Ag Hotwire said on Wednesday.

– Western Canadian spot prices for #1 Laird lentils are about 50 to 60 Canadian cents per pound, according to data from Prairie Ag Hotwire on Wednesday.
