Winnipeg, November 1 (CNS) – The edible bean harvest in
United Kingdom had good yields but quality was down due to late
rains in the summer, according to a report published the British
Edible Pulses Association. Trade estimates stake the bean crop
at less than half of what 2016’s crop was, with under 100,000
tonnes available for trade.

according to Queensland Country Life. The project sees
researchers mapping the occurrence of defects, such as hail
damage and Ascochyta blight, against weather data in Australia
to determine the underlying causes of chickpea genetic
susceptibility. The research will help chickpea breeders to
select more robust varieties in the future to minimize the risk
of defects.
