Ukraine sees bigger 2026 winter grain area despite slow start to sowing
Ukrainian farmers plan to increase the 2026 winter grain sowing area to 5.43 million hectares (13.4 million acres) from 5.24 million in 2025, the Economy Ministry said on Tuesday, though dry soils in some areas mean planting has got off to a slow start.
Feed barley initials in the 2007-08 Pool A will increase $100 per tonne, while the raises for designated barley range from $52.50 (Sample Select six-row, account fusarium) to $61.50 (Select, Standard Select and Special Select CW two-row and Select CW two-row hulless) per tonne.
Farmers who delivered these crops to the CWB between Aug. 1 and Nov. 21 this year will get an adjustment payment, mailed by Dec. 7 or direct-deposited on Dec. 4. Farmers who want to defer payments have until Nov. 28 to inform the CWB.
2006-07 interims
Meanwhile, interim payments will be made on all grades of durum and designated barley delivered to the CWB during the 2006-07 crop year, as well as for Pool B feed barley.
The interim payments will be $9 per tonne for durum, $8 per tonne for designated barley and $53 per tonne for Pool B feed barley.
The board said in its release Friday that it’s looking into the idea of combining this interim with the upcoming 2006-07 final payment. The CWB said to watch for a further announcement on that matter, but if approved, it’s expected the combined payments would be mailed or deposited on Dec. 18.
