Ukraine To Raise Grain-Sowing Area

Ukraine’s farms will raise the area sown for the 2011 grain harvest by about 3.5 per cent to 15.6 million hectares, the Farm Ministry said. It said almost all winter grain crops, sown for the 2011 grain harvest were in a good condition as of March 21. The ministry also said farms from Ukraine’s southern regions had already started the 2011 winter grain sowing. The ministry has said that Ukraine could harvest at least 42 million tonnes of grain in 2011 compared to 39.2 million in 2010.
