Winnipeg, August 28 – The Canadian dollar was slightly higher
against its US counterpart on Monday morning. The loonie was
bolstered by softness in the American greenback as Hurricane Harvey
threatened energy infrastructure in the Texas region.
Gains in gold, copper and other metals lent strength to the
commodity-backed currency.
At 9:15 CDT Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.8028
or C$1.2456 which compares with Friday’s North American close of
US$0.8005 or C$1.2492.
At 9:15 CDT Monday morning, the TSX was down 65.98 points, or
0.44%, at 14,990.01.
